Submitting Films

Dear film enthusiasts,

We hope you enjoy this site, which aims to be a central location for films and videos starring, produced, directed or written by Subud members around the world. It includes documentaries, profiles, works of fiction, visual reports (including on congresses and gatherings), animations, music videos, and much more.

We’re looking for good productions, so, while you don’t have to be a professional in the business, the image quality, editing and general flow will be considered before material is uploaded onto the site. If you’re not very experienced, please ask for help (there’s bound to be someone fairly knowledgeable in your area!) in planning, editing and finishing off your work before submitting it.

Here are a few guidelines to help site creator, Pierce Vaughn, in his task:

Please send Pierce the original material in the best quality available.

This means, first of all, that the films should be in full resolution (PAL or NTSC), sent in by post on a good quality DVD, or uploaded as a good quality master video file onto Pierce’s server, either as QUICKTIME VIDEO (.MOV), AVI VIDEO (.AVI) or as an MP4.

Your submission should include a text with a brief description of the content, and detail of who filmed, edited, performed, etc., including credits regarding music.

Pierce takes on the task of converting it to flash video format (.flv – 500-700kb/s), so please don’t send formats such as wmv, realvideo, divx or similar. Low quality videos made with cell phones or low resolution cameras will probably not be acceptable unless the content is exceptional!!!

If you have questions regarding compression or other matters, or if you want the addresses to either mail DVDs or upload material, please contact Pierce at pierce.vaughn@gmail.com

As we said, the idea is to mainly have quality productions (the exceptions being special interest and rare subjects), so if you’ve taken hours of film at some event or another, but have no idea how to edit it into an interesting film, please look to others for help and guidance before submitting.
